I organized a mending circle at my friend, Mati Rose’s, studio in Berkeley. We invited a handful of other artists to join us in whittling down our mending stacks while enjoying simple food, wine, and good company. It was so much fun! I highly recommend organizing a mending gathering for anybody interested in community engagement, social art practice, or more simply hosting a small party to encourage folks to mend their goods. Most people worked on one piece that needed more substantial effort but some folks brought a handful of items that needed quick fixes like replacing buttons, mending small tears, or adding small patches. You can see more details about this gathering over my blog. So fun! I can’t wait to host one again.
