This project has quickly become one of my favorite projects in the Make Thrift Mend experience. I’ve mended the hole in these jeans three times but I finally feel like I landed on something that will quickly become a regular mending solution: Sashiko stitching. I first darned the hole in these jeans, then I patched it with an iron-on patch, but when I learned about Sashiko stitches and Visible Mending I knew I’d found a new passion. I love the inspiration from the Boro cloths in Japan, the Japanese Sashiko stitches, and all this inspiring work about Visible Mending. The mending on these jeans has grown even since these photographs and with each new stitch they feel more and more my own. Read more about this project on my blog.
